THE CANCORSO FIELD GUIDE

Your first look at dog activities.

Understand the event, observe a session and choose a starting point that suits your dog.

01

Know what is being evaluated

Conformation evaluates a dog against a breed standard; companion sports assess particular trained skills. These are different pursuits with different entry conditions. Read the organizing body’s current rules before investing in a course or entering an event.

02

Visit without pressure to compete

Ask a local club about observing a class or event. Learn how arrivals, waiting areas and handling work. A quiet visit without your dog may be the simplest way to decide whether the environment and teaching approach suit you.

03

Build a small preparation plan

Write down eligibility, required records, equipment, travel and the skills to practice. Check details with the organizer close to the event date. Official club listings are the right place for current schedules; confirm the venue, entry deadline and visitor arrangements before traveling.
