Describe the starting point
Choose an ordinary situation and write what actually happens: where the dog is, what the handler does and what makes the task difficult. This gives you a baseline that is more useful than a label such as badly behaved.
Record one meaningful change
A calmer door routine or an easier equipment fitting can matter more than a dramatic before-and-after video. Note the conditions under which improvement happened. Progress in one setting does not automatically transfer to every other place or person.
Share the context honestly
If you describe progress to a trainer or community, include the management and support involved. Protect other people’s privacy and avoid filming a dog in distress to illustrate a point. Use these prompts for your own notes and bring them to your next training conversation.
