Use averages carefully
The AKC gives a typical life expectancy of 9–12 years for the Cane Corso. That is a population-level description, not a promise about a particular dog. An individual’s needs and circumstances matter more than trying to turn an average into a prediction.
Notice what changes
Keep a simple record of comfortable walks, appetite, sleep and how easily your dog gets up. Subtle changes are easier to explain when you can describe when they began. Do not assume a new difficulty is simply part of getting older; arrange a veterinary assessment.
Make the home easier to use
Think ahead about nonslip routes, access to a comfortable bed and getting safely into a vehicle. Keep the normal routine recognizable while adjusting it to the dog’s needs. A written care summary also helps another trusted adult step in if you are away.
