A mix is still an individual
A name made from two breeds is not a standardized description of a dog. Puppies from the same cross may differ. Avoid promises that a mix automatically combines only the desirable traits of both parents or removes all inherited health concerns.
Ask about the actual parents
Where possible, learn about both parents’ size, behavior and health records. For a rescue dog whose history is unknown, focus on the assessment and support available now. A visual guess or a commercial ancestry result does not replace an individual behavior and health evaluation.
Budget for uncertainty
Arrange equipment, transport and housing with room for a large adult dog. Make sure your support network can manage that possibility too. If predictability is especially important for your household, discuss an assessed adult dog with a responsible rescue instead of relying on puppy-size estimates.
