A pedigree describes recorded ancestry. Match the dog’s registered name and identifying details across the supplied documents. Ask the issuing registry how to verify a record or complete a transfer instead of trusting an image with a logo.
Understand what a document establishes
Registration is not a complete assessment of health, behavior or household suitability. A title also refers to a particular achievement, under a particular organization. Ask for the result behind an abbreviation if it matters to your decision.
Build a complete folder
Keep purchase or adoption paperwork, veterinary records and current identification information alongside ancestry documents. Make sure you know which organization maintains each record and how to update contact details. A single certificate should not be made to answer every question about a dog.
